Why 30 places of worship and not 50, or 100? Thirty by Thirty is such a better book title….just kidding. Mostly. I couldn’t imagine going to (and writing about) more than thirty churches in one year. Especially considering I could barely set foot in ONE when I started!   (5/12 Update: total amount of visits completed: 36!)

Are you still a Christian?  What do you think? (5/12 Update: It totally depends on how you define Christian, because I’ve discovered that word means a lot of different things to a wide spectrum of people. Kind of like the symbol for a Pentagram or the letter Z. I could tell you I’m a Christian, but if you are asking the question, it is possible that you might spit out a judgement on whether I fit your definition of “Christian”.  And that is fine.)

So…what exactly DO you believe? As of today (5/12/12), I am a person of faith: in God and in people of all beliefs who put love into action. My primary spiritual homes are the Stone Village Church and St. Sophia’s, but I also strongly identify with the Tribe of the Nemenhah and the Buddists of the Columbus KTC temple…and with about 25 other paths. I plan to practice any and all things which lead me closer to Divine Love and Light.

Why do you separate some religions by ethnic group/sexual preference, such as the GLBT Methodists and the African-American Baptists? My aim is to get as much diversity into Thirty by Thirty as possible, so I want to travel the spectrum of religious experience. This includes attending places of worship where they define themselves by their sexuality/ethnicity,etc.

My Monk

Who is your monk and where can I find him?

He is a bishop in ther Eastern Orthodox church. You can join us for meditation in Columbus,OH on Monday evenings. Email me for details!

Are you trying to find a religion?

No. I don’t think I’ll ever fit into a box with a per-printed label again.  (5/12 Update: I did find a spiritual home. 4 of them, in fact. See Question 3. )
